Seacoast Artglass
Allen Norelli
"The infamous first project"
About Allen and Seacoast Artglass
Allen and his better half Terie moved to Portsmouth, NH in 1980. Their turn-of-the-century home had a front door window that was perfect for stained glass. Coincidently, that year the University of New Hampshire offered an evening stained glass course taught by a third-generation craftsman from Germany who had helped his father and grandfather work on cathedral windows throughout Europe. While other students worked on light-catchers with about a dozen pieces of glass, the instructor was impressed that Allen’s front door window design had an ambitious 164 pieces. Allen was taught and continues to use lead construction rather than the copper foil technique. It’s the old school method.
Over the next forty years Allen has honed his craft, creating windows for friends and neighbors, as well as custom commissions. His designs are eclectic, ranging from traditional to geometrics to abstract, complex florals to sweeping flashes of color. Designs are created to fit the dimensions, decor, and colors of the surrounding space and cater to the taste of the client. The project can be custom fit for installation or framed to hang and display.
